Free Christian Choir Music | I Choose Faith | 9/11 Tribute
Let’s Not Forget September 11
When I think back to the days shortly after 9/11 most Americans where encouraged by the spiritual impact of this tragic event had on out country. The memory of Congress standing as one on the steps of the Capital singing “God Bless America” was a source of inspiration to our hurting nation. Reports stated the American people were more likely to pray, read their Bibles and attend church services as a result of this event. Fast forward to the America of today and I see little or no impact spiritually in the attitudes of most people toward God.
Vickie Garrison has written an anthem entitled “I Choose Faith” in response to the terrible 9/11 attack on our country. Her inspiration for this piece is from Psalm 27.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?”
Vickie describes her arrangement like this, “it begins with a simple statement of trust in God then it moves more confidently as more parts are added and finally declares in a powerful voice of assurance, “I will not be afraid, I choose faith!”
The piece is dedicated to her father, Neil Robbins, who “always chose faith over fear” and whose legacy of faith is still a source of strength for their family.
She is making the choir arrangement available free to anyone who would be interested. Below is a link to her site where you can download a PDF of the SATB arrangement and listen to a MP3 track of how it sounds. The arrangement also features a piano with cello accompaniment and an optional soprano obbligato part.
